Coldplay are to utilise HVO to take steps towards the band’s target of reducing CO2 emissions from its Music Of The Spheres World Tour by 50% compared to the band’s previous concerts.
Coldplay will be using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to help reduce emissions from air travel, while HVO will help cut emissions from the band’s tour transport and stage power generation.
Coldplay pressed pause on their touring in 2019 until future events could be done in a more sustainable way. To achieve its ambition for more sustainable touring, Coldplay decided that using SAF and HVO proved to be the best option for these.
“We’ve tried to put sustainability at the centre of this tour because it just feels like the only option,” said lead singer Chris Martin.
