In Michigan, Ford has approved the use of HVO in its Transit Vans. Ford thoroughly tested HVO in its 2.0-litre EcoBlue engine to make sure no modifications would be needed, and servicing would not be affected. No further development of the fuel was needed before it could be used in Ford’s latest Transit vans. (Source: Biofuels Digest)
Separately, tests on a DAF Cummins four-cylinder ISB Euro 5 diesel, conducted by independent researchers with the assistance of the engine manufacturer, showed that fuel consumption was reduced by 2.3% thanks to the higher mass-based energy content of the fuel. Pure HVO, HVO100, can be used in diesel engines without modification and is approved for all heavy vehicles of the market leading engine manufacturers such as Scania, Volvo, Mercedes, MAN among others.
